Professor Julie Bernhardt named Member of Order of Australia
Professor Julie Bernhardt, co-head of the Florey Stroke theme, has been named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Australia Day Honours list for her significant service to medical research and advocacy for women in science.
Professor Bernhardt has been head of the Stroke theme since 2012. She also leads the AVERT Early Intervention and Research Program and directs the NHMRC Centre for Research Excellence in Stroke Rehabilitation and Recovery.
She founded the Women in Science Parkville Precinct (WiSSP) in 2014, which brings together five of Australia's largest medical research institutes to increase the number of women in science leadership.
